Aston Villa are in talks to re-sign midfielder Douglas Luiz, 18 months after he left for Juventus.
They are pushing to bring in a new midfielder on loan after agreeing an £18m deal with Besiktas striker Tammy Abraham.
Villa are looking to strengthen their midfield following recent injuries to Boubacar Kamara and John McGinn, who have been ruled out this season.
Youri Tielemans is also doubtful after apparently sustaining an ankle injury against Newcastle at the weekend.
Former player Luiz has started just five Premier League games this season, playing just 318 minutes in total, and is now available for a loan move from Nottingham Forest.
Even with the permanent aspect of the deal, it would only cost Villa a fraction of the £43m (€50m) he sold to Juventus in June 2024.
Luiz made over 200 appearances for Villa between 2019 and 2024, but his contract with Juve runs until 2029.
His loan to Forest includes a buyout obligation, but is conditional on appearances.
Villa currently sit third in the Premier League, level with Manchester City on 46 points, and are well placed to qualify for the FA Cup as well as the Europa League.
