Detroit — ford motor The company announced Tuesday that it is expanding its Bronco SUV lineup to include a new model that the company touts as having a combination of off-road and street performance.
The 2027 Ford Bronco RTR will be the eighth model in the lineup, below the high-performance Raptor version. Although it looks similar to a traditional Bronco, it has some design tweaks and off-road performance parts that the Raptor also has.
Ford officials declined to discuss the car’s pricing, but called it a “more attainable” performance model or gateway to the Raptor. However, that doesn’t mean it will be cheaper. It is expected to sit between the $51,475 Bronco Heritage Edition and the approximately $80,000 Bronco Raptor. Prices for the base Bronco start at about $40,000.
“The difference is the access point, the accessibility,” said Ed Krenz, Bronco’s chief program engineer. “This can really be seen as a step into the Raptor family.”

According to Ford, the Bronco RTR is powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is currently rated in the Ford Mustang at 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. This compares to the Bronco Raptor’s 3.0-liter V6 engine’s 418 horsepower and 440 foot-pounds of torque.
Ford says the Bronco RTR will be available to order in October, with sales expected to begin in January 2027.
This vehicle is the second RTR model in partnership with racer Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s Ready to Rock brand. The first model was the Ford Mustang model that the company introduced a year ago. Both were for the Detroit Auto Show.
“The Bronco RTR is literally another dream come true for myself and my team. It’s an opportunity to build something for enthusiasts that is available, affordable, and has the looks and features that only RTR and Ford can create together,” Gittin said during the event.
The new model follows Ford’s strategy of leaning into its most famous brands, such as the Bronco, Mustang and F-150.
