Google’s Monday update comes after the company announced it would be returning to the smart glasses game in May. At the time, co-founder Sergey Brin said Google had learned from its past mistakes with the smart glasses fiasco, pointing to slow progress in AI and lack of supply chain knowledge that led to higher prices.

Companies like Snap and Alibaba are also churning out their own AI glasses products, as the small but competitive market continues to grow.

Google also revealed further software updates for its Galaxy XR headset on Monday. These include the ability to link to a Windows PC and a travel mode that allows you to use the device on a plane or in your car.
