Hamas has confirmed that its senior commander, Raed Saad, was killed in an Israeli attack in the Gaza Strip, in the most high-profile assassination of a senior Palestinian group leader since the October cease-fire agreement.
The Israeli military announced on Saturday that it had killed Saad in an attack near Gaza City. At least 25 people were injured in recent Israeli attacks in Gaza.

Hamas’ Gaza leader Khalil al-Haya acknowledged Saad’s killing in a video statement on Sunday and accused Israel of violating a cease-fire agreement agreed in October.
“Given Israel’s continued violations, including the assassination of a Hamas commander just yesterday, we call on mediators, especially the US government and US President Donald Trump, the main guarantor of the agreement, to compel the occupying power (Israel) to respect and implement the ceasefire agreement,” he said.
Since the ceasefire began in October, Israel has carried out daily attacks on Gaza, with nearly 800 strikes killing at least 386 people, a clear violation of the agreement, according to Gazan authorities.
