How Victoria Beckham’s health habits have changed since the early 2000s

Former Spice Girl Posh Spice Victoria Beckham is known for her healthy habits and discipline towards health.

Since coming to prominence 30 years ago, fashion designers’ daily habits to stay in peak health have evolved. Her diet remains consistent: fresh fish, vegetables, nuts and seeds, but now that she’s in her 50s, her exercise habits and priorities have changed.

Here are four ways Beckham’s health habits have changed since the early 2000s.

4 ways Victoria Beckham’s health habits changed

1. She has become more flexible with her diet.

“I try to be pretty disciplined when it comes to eating,” Beckham told BBC Radio’s Gordon Ramsay’s Perfect Christmas Lunch in 2006, at the age of 32.

At the time, she prioritized a “really healthy” diet of fish, vegetables and fruit, and still does, she said. But Beckham isn’t so strict these days.

Beckham told Net-a-Porter in 2020 that he’s “flexible when it comes to eating.” “My reward is a few glasses of red wine. I also love tequila, and I eat carbs. I eat a lot of good fats, like avocados and salmon.”

2. She added weight training to her training

More than a decade ago, Beckham made a New Year’s resolution to start going to the gym, she told the Guardian in 2014. “I’ve never quit. Once I’m passionate about something, I do it properly,” she said.

At the time, she worked out for 90 minutes with a trainer, took SoulCycle classes, and ran frequently, sometimes as much as eight miles. By 2023, her workout routine looked much different.

“I usually train every morning before I start my day, but lately I’ve been incorporating strength training into my routine and it’s been a fun way to switch up my regime,” Beckham said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

The following year, at age 50, she said that weight training made her feel “stronger than when I was 20.”

3. Sleep is now key to her self-care

In 2013, Beckham’s three sons were still in school and his daughter was only one year old. Beckham told Harper’s Bazaar that same year that he starts his day between 6:15 and 6:30 a.m. and falls asleep between midnight and 1 a.m.

At the time, she was getting 5 to 6 hours of sleep a night. “I try to get as much sleep as possible, but when you’re a mom, well, that’s a good thing,” Beckham said.

Ten years later, she told the magazine that her best advice for self-care is to develop healthy sleep habits.

“Creating healthy sleep habits is very important. It has become an important part of my self-care practice,” she said.

“I’ve been working on reducing my screen time and incorporating more mindfulness into my routine, and that means putting away my phone before bed.”

4. Wellness shots and green smoothies are a staple of her daily routine

Beckham also gets a lot of nutrients and vitamins from his daily drinks.

Earlier this year, Vogue featured Beckham’s morning routine based on stories shared to his personal Instagram account. The first thing she takes every morning is apple cider vinegar, “a couple tablespoons on an empty stomach,” she says.

Then she and her husband, David Beckham, make a green smoothie that looks like this:

Broccoli Spinach Cucumber Celery Avocado Apple Ginger Lemon

After training, Beckham drinks another smoothie with berries, bananas, apples, and almonds. She ends her morning with a wellness shot of lemon, black pepper, ginger, and turmeric. “One shot a day!!” she said.
