microsoft Enterprise employees can now easily create AI agents that wake up and do their jobs. We are currently demonstrating tools that IT specialists can use to review and manage these agents.

The software, called Agent 365, provides a list of artificial intelligence agents in a company’s systems, even those made by other companies, Microsoft announced Tuesday. The company plans to present the product to business leaders and information technology professionals at the Ignite conference in San Francisco this week.

“The same way we provision identities for new hires and temporary workers, we’ll be provisioning identities and access controls for agents,” Judson Althoff, CEO of Microsoft’s commercial business, said in an interview with CNBC.

Agent 365 allows admins to approve new agents, see which agents are popular, and learn how many hours their employees are saving each week. You can also identify security risks and block agents. End users will be able to analyze agent activity.

Following the rise of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in late 2022, software companies have built AI agents that can develop software, generate ads, and perform other simple tasks. Traditional companies are also starting to buy in.

Ray Smith, vice president of autonomous agents at Microsoft, said other companies that sell AI agents can also integrate with Agent 365.

EY, one of the world’s top accounting firms, had been building an internal catalog of its AI agents, but began implementing Agent 365 to gain more control, said Mark Luquire, managing director at EY.

Companies that sell cybersecurity software recognize the complexity that can arise from agent proliferation. OctaThe company, which sells software to manage employee access, announced in September that it would introduce tools to discover agents and track their activities.

Smith said customers enrolled in Microsoft’s Frontier program for early access to AI capabilities can request a trial of Agent 365. Microsoft has not finalized pricing.
