The Philadelphia Eagles held off a dramatic late rally from the Buffalo Bills, but the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Cleveland Browns, sending the NFL playoff race to the final day of the season on Sunday.
Philadelphia Eagles 13-12 Buffalo Bills
On Sunday, as the Eagles held on for a 13-12 victory over the Bills, Josh Allen completed a two-point conversion by missing open receiver Khalil Shakir in the back of the end zone with five seconds left.
Dallas Goedert caught a 1-yard touchdown pass and Jake Elliott hit field goals of 28 and 47 yards, and the Super Bowl champion Eagles narrowly avoided giving up a 13-0 lead in the fourth quarter. Linebacker Jayrix Hunt had two of Philadelphia’s four sacks and had a team-high three quarterback hits.
Defensive tackle Jalen Carter made a big contribution in his return after missing three games with bilateral shoulder injuries. After Allen’s 2-yard touchdown run with 5:11 left, Carter raised his hands to block Michael Badgley’s extra point attempt.
Allen scored on a hard push on fourth-and-goal, pulling the Bills within one point with five seconds left. The Bills thought they had scored a touchdown one play earlier, but a replay review determined Dawson Knox was short of the goal line.
Coach Sean McDermott opted for two games instead of overtime. Allen dropped into the pocket and fired a pass about a foot wide of Shaquille, hitting a defender in the face and venting his frustration on his way back to the sideline.
The NFC East champion Eagles (11-5) are guaranteed to make the playoffs as at least the conference’s third seed. Buffalo (11-5), which clinched a playoff berth last week, fell to the AFC’s No. 7 seed as New England finished out the AFC East.
New England Patriots 42-10 New York Jets
Drake Maye threw a career-high five touchdown passes with the rest of the game starting in the third quarter, while New England reached the end zone on its first six drives as the Patriots dominated the New York Jets 42-10 to end the regular season undefeated on the road.
Rhamondre Stephenson had a touchdown run and catch for the Patriots (13-3), who officially became AFC East champions for the first time since 2019 thanks to Buffalo’s loss to Philadelphia.
Maye completed 19-of-21 completions for 256 yards and a quarterback rating of 157.0 with touchdown tosses to Stevenson, Stefon Diggs, Austin Hooper, Hunter Henry and Efton Chism III, but was replaced by coach Mike Vrabel with Joshua Dobbs with 5:31 left in the third quarter.
Maye joins Tom Brady (11) and Drew Bledsoe (twice) as the only New England quarterbacks to reach 4,000 passing yards in a season.
Pittsburgh Steelers 6-13 Cleveland Browns
Shedur Sanders rushed for 186 yards and a touchdown, Cleveland’s defense kept Pittsburgh from the end zone, and the Browns hung on for a 13-6 victory, preventing the Steelers from clinching the AFC North.
Pittsburgh (9-7) enters the weekend needing a win or a loss against Baltimore for its first division title since 2020.
Instead, the Steelers will host the Ravens, with the winner clinching the division title and the AFC’s No. 4 seed for the playoffs to finish the regular season.
The Browns (4-12) ended a four-game losing streak and suffered a seven-game losing streak in divisional games. It was the first time since December 10, 2009 that the Browns defeated the Steelers without a touchdown.
Rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. scored his third touchdown in four games, and Andre Schmidt made two field goals, including one from 33 yards, to give the Browns a 13-6 lead with 1:40 remaining.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17-20 Miami Dolphins
Rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns, including a 63-yard toss for his first career score, as the Miami Dolphins defeated the struggling Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-17.
The Bucks (7-9) remain one game behind the Carolina Panthers (8-8) in the NFC South after the Panthers lost 27-10 to Seattle on Sunday. The Buccaneers will clinch their fifth consecutive division title and sixth consecutive playoff berth by defeating Carolina in the final regular season game next week.
However, Tampa Bay has lost four straight and has not looked like a playoff team in seven of its last eight games. The Buccaneers’ last four losses have all come on one possession.
Ewers completed 14 of 22 passes in his second career start for the Dolphins (7-9). Rookie receiver Theo Weese Jr. ran 63 yards to the end zone for Ewers’ first TD pass, and tight end Greg Dulcich caught an 11-yard scoring pass.
Jacksonville Jaguars 23-17 Indianapolis Colts
Trevor Lawrence scored twice and Cam Little hit a game-tying 42-yard field goal with 6:58 left, and the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Indianapolis Colts 23-17, moving one win away from their first AFC South title since 2022.
The Jags (12-4) won their seventh straight game, a day after two-time division champion Houston defeated the Los Angeles Chargers to remain in title contention. The Texans’ victory also eliminated the Colts from playoff contention.
Jacksonville’s Liam Cohen became the first coach in NFL history to lead a four-win team and win 12 games the following season.
Lawrence completed 23 of 37 for 263 yards, but his streak of consecutive games with at least 225 passing yards, two touchdowns and a passer rating of 100 or higher ended at four. There were no touchdown passes, but he threw an interception for the first time in five weeks.
Seattle Seahawks 27-10 Carolina Panthers
Zach Charbonnet rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns, and the Seattle Seahawks converted two Carolina turnovers in the third quarter into visits to the end zone to beat the Panthers 27-10 and close in on the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs.
Sam Darnold had an interception in the end zone, but the Seahawks finished 18 of 27 for 147 yards and a touchdown. If the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams lose or tie, the Seahawks could clinch the NFC West title and the top seed.
Jackson Smith-Njiba had nine catches for 72 yards and Seattle (13-3) won its sixth straight game.
The Panthers (8-8) had a chance to win the NFC South after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost 20-17 to Miami on Sunday. Now, the Panthers will need a win at Tampa Bay next weekend to win their first division title since 2015 and break a seven-year playoff drought. If the Atlanta Falcons (6 wins, 9 losses) win their remaining two games, Carolina has a chance to win the division title even if it loses to the Bucks.
Arizona Cardinals 14-37 Cincinnati Bengals
Ja’Marr Chase caught two touchdown passes from Joe Burrow and threw for 305 yards as the Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Arizona Cardinals 37-14.
Chase finished with seven catches for 60 yards, becoming the first player in NFL history to have at least 80 receptions, 1,000 receiving yards, and seven TD catches in his first five seasons.
This is the 28th time Burrow has passed for 300 yards or more, tying him with Andy Dalton for the most in franchise history. Chase Brown ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Bengals (6-10) improve to 3-2 since Burrow returned from surgery on his left toe.
Arizona’s Trey McBride had 10 catches, giving him 119 catches this season, breaking the NFL single-season record for a tight end and surpassing Zach Ertz’s 116 catches in 2018. He also broke the Cardinals record of 115 catches, set by DeAndre Hopkins in 2020.
New York Giants 34-10 Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders have emerged in position to land the top pick in next year’s draft after losing 34-10 to Jackson Dart and the New York Giants in a matchup of teams with two of the worst records in the NFL.
Las Vegas (2-14) will lock up the top pick if it loses to Kansas City next week. The Raiders’ losing streak has reached 10 games, matching last season’s losing streak, the fifth longest in franchise history.
The Giants (3-13), whose losing streak ended at nine, could still get the top pick even if they lose to Dallas next weekend and the Raiders beat the Chiefs. Interim coach Mike Kafka picked up his first win after losing his first five games, giving the Giants their largest margin of victory since beating Indianapolis 38-10 in Week 17 of the 2022 season.
Dart, who was selected by the Giants with the 25th pick in the 2025 draft, showed off his two-way ability with 207 yards passing, 48 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
New Orleans Saints 34-26 Tennessee Titans
Tyler Shaw threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Austin Jr. with 6 minutes, 22 seconds left, and the New Orleans Saints rallied from a 13-point deficit to beat the Tennessee Titans 34-26.
Schuh improved to 5-3 as a starter and helped the Saints (6-10) win four straight. He defeated No. 1 overall draft pick Cam Ward in the third game between NFL starting rookie QBs this season. Shaw completed 22-of-27 for a career-best 333 yards and two touchdowns with a passer rating of 142.7.
New Orleans dominated the second half, with Audric Estim adding a 32-yard touchdown run with 3:44 left. The Saints outscored the Titans 24-6 on both teams, winning 331-152 after halftime.
