On Thursday, WordPress launched a new Claude connector that lets site owners share backend data with Anthropic’s chatbot system. Users can control the specific data they want to share, and can revoke access if they choose.

Specifically, Claude is given read-only access. This means that nothing can be changed within the user’s CMS. However, last year WP claimed that it would eventually provide “write” access to the MCP integration, possibly allowing users to perform editing tasks directly from the connected chatbot of their choice.

Either way, once Claude is linked to an account, users can ask the chatbot all kinds of questions about the site data it has been granted access to, from an overview of the site’s monthly web traffic to an analysis of posts with low user engagement.

WordPress also provides a list of template prompts for chatbots. For example, “See my blog’s pending comments” or “Which sites are getting the most traffic?” or “Show me which posts are generating the most discussion.” Other features include comment management (“Show pending comments on my blog”) and plugin management (“What plugins do you have installed on your main site?”).
