Norwich City are set to appoint former Rangers manager Philippe Clement as their new head coach.

Sky Sports News understands the Canaries hope to make an announcement later on Tuesday.

Norwich had previously considered former Sweden manager John Dahl Tomasson to replace Liam Manning, with Gary O’Neill also being considered.

However, Mr Thomason removed himself from the proceedings on Monday night after the parties were unable to reach an agreement after discussions.

Sky Sports News reported last week that Norwich also held talks with former Wolves and Bournemouth manager O’Neill.

However, such discussions did not progress. Mr O’Neill is understood to be patiently waiting for the right opportunity to announce himself.

Clement has been out of work since leaving the Rangers in February of this year. He left Ibrox 13 points behind Scottish Premier League leaders Celtic with 11 games remaining, but the club were also in the last 16 of the Europa League.

Clement won the Scottish League Cup with Rangers in 2024 and led them to the last 16 of the Europa League.

Clement was replaced by manager Barry Ferguson on an interim basis, and Rangers have since hired Russell Martin and current manager Danny Rohr as permanent successors to the Belgian.

At the time of Clement’s departure from Rangers, despite having a 64 per cent winning percentage and winning the 2024 Scottish League Cup, he was the fifth-shortest tenured permanent manager in the Ibrox club’s history, having been in charge for 498 days.

Clement has also won three Belgian top-flight titles during his career, winning back-to-back titles with Club Brugge in 2021 and another with Genk in 2019. He also spent 18 months in Monaco, France, until June 2023.
