In the closely watched Virginia gubernatorial race, Democrats appear to be benefiting from a small but determined group of voters who have negative views of both major parties, according to NBC News exit polls.

Democrats’ advantage among dissatisfied voters mirrors trends seen in other races, including Tuesday’s New Jersey gubernatorial race and New York’s mayoral race, NBC reported.

According to an NBC poll, 41% of Virginia voters have a favorable view of Democrats only, and another 41% have a favorable view of Republicans only.

However, 10% said they viewed both parties favorably.

And of that group, 72% supported Democratic candidate Abigail Spanberger and only 23% supported Republican candidate Winsome Earl Sears, NBC found.

The findings come despite recent data showing Democratic voter registration is declining across the country and the party’s favorability rating is declining.
