President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he expects U.S. troops to withdraw from Iran within “two to three weeks.”

President Trump told reporters at the White House: “There’s no reason to do so, so we’re leaving.” “I’ll be leaving soon.”

Hours later, the White House announced that President Trump would give a speech Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET to “give the nation an important update on Iran.”

The United States and Israel attacked Iran on February 28th.

In his comments Tuesday, President Trump dismissed the idea that a negotiated settlement must be reached to end the war, raising the prospect that the United States may simply declare victory and end hostilities.

President Trump said, “Iran doesn’t need to make a deal.” “This is a new regime. It’s much more accessible.”

“No, they don’t need to enter into an agreement with me when we feel that they will be in the Stone Age for a long time and will not even be able to develop nuclear weapons,” he said. “Then we’ll leave whether we get a deal or not. That doesn’t matter now. They want a deal, so there’s a chance we’ll get a deal.”

“They want a deal more than I want a deal, but it will be done in a fairly short period of time,” the president said.

“Look at what’s happening in Iran,” President Trump said. “So we’re not checked at all. Everything is bombed.”

“We’re hitting them very hard,” he said. “Last night we destroyed a huge amount of missile manufacturing facilities.”
