Apple chip chief considers exit: report

Several of Cupertino’s biggest names are looking for jobs ahead of the holiday season.

In the past 7 days, we have seen an unusual increase in sales for: appleThe top tier of companies range from heads of artificial intelligence to top lawyers.

CEO Tim Cook now has two fewer direct reports than he did before Thanksgiving.

The executives who designed the Apple Vision Pro software also bounced back. meta Do the same with Menlo Park’s AI glasses.

As if last week’s departure wasn’t enough, there was another potential departure over the weekend. According to Bloomberg, Johnny Srouzi, the company’s senior vice president of hardware technology, told Cook he wanted to leave immediately.

But any drama seems to be over, and in a memo obtained by CNBC, Srouzi told staff on Monday morning that he has no plans to leave Apple anytime soon.

Srouji is a chip design guru intel The company was struggling, but manufacturing its own chips for Macs led to significant performance improvements and healthy sales growth. Srouji is essentially the Jony Ive of chip design, a singular talent that’s hard to imagine leaving. apple.

An Apple spokesperson had no comment on Srouji or the executives who recently resigned.

There are multiple ways to read all the changes that have occurred at the top of a company known for maintaining a stable leadership team while producing innovative, industry-leading products.

Even as the entire industry pivoted toward AI, and the technology world changed around Apple in just three short years, Apple stayed the course.

So it was no surprise that AI chief John Gianandrea resigned last week. He was responsible for delivering innovative AI experiences on the iPhone. Instead, Apple was forced to admit that it couldn’t launch the supercharged version of Siri it had been touting for months.

Perhaps a new strategy is to partner with established AI leaders, such as: google Or Anthropic could make up for all of that, but there’s a lot of pressure on Apple to pull it off right after this year’s flop.

Getting AI right is just as important for other products.

If Apple isn’t going to charge for its AI system, its best bet is to use it as a selling point for new hardware and show it can make some money.

We are already getting hints that 2026 will be a monumental year.

Several new rumored AI product categories will be introduced, including AI glasses similar to those sold by Meta and a tablet to control all your smart home appliances.

Apple is also expected to celebrate its 50th anniversary on April 1st next year and release its first-ever foldable iPhone. Further challenges lie ahead, including an impending antitrust case and whether Apple can maintain its ceasefire with President Donald Trump.

Taken together, this may point to the need for reform, especially when it comes to AI.

We’ll find out next year whether Apple made the right decision.
