George Riddard is looking to establish himself as one of Britain’s best boxers under the age of 25.

Moses Itauma, just 21 years old, and Adam Azim, 23, have established themselves as rising stars in British boxing.

However, Lydard made a name for himself by winning the British and Commonwealth middleweight championships at the age of 23. He won that belt by stopping Kieron Conway in his last match.

“That’s the goal for me. I just want to keep moving forward, keep stepping up, keep testing and proving to everyone who I am and that I’m one of the best fighters in the world at middleweight,” Lidard told Sky Sports.

“I said I’d stop that guy (Conway) first, and I did that. I said I’d take any means possible, and that’s exactly what we did. Nobody held me against it that night. I felt it was my time.”

“Experience will get you this far, but when you’re with hungry, young, dangerous warriors, it doesn’t matter what you have. I’m going to get the job done.”

He will look to cement his status on Saturday when he takes on veteran former European champion Tyler Denny at the Copperbox Arena.

“I think going to beat a former European champion makes me feel confident that I’m there,” Lidard said.

“I’m not an inexperienced fighter at 13-0. I’ve already fought some good fighters. Some of the fighters that were supposed to come might give me a little bit of trouble, but I feel like I beat them quite comfortably at times.”

A win over Denny could put Lidard in the deep end of the world title race.

“The goal is to win a world title within the next 18 months,” he said. “I’m closer to those who miss out on world titles.

“I’m not ignoring these opponents. I just believe that’s what I can do. A win over Denny would be one step closer to proving that.”

“I believe any guy can put me in there, and I’ll back myself to get the job done. I’ll find a way.”

He added: “I’m a young man from Billericay with a dream and I’m getting closer and closer to that dream through battle after battle.”
