Bukayo Saka has helped Arsenal get ‘over the line’ and win another trophy after signing a new four-year contract that makes him the Gunners’ highest-paid player.

Saka’s previous contract was due to expire in June 2027, but he has now committed his future to the Gunners until 2030.

The England international has become a key player for his boyhood club under manager Mikel Arteta and has appeared more than any other Arsenal player since taking over in 2019.

He has played a total of 296 games for the Gunners, scoring 77 goals, including eight in 34 games across all competitions this season.

He scored in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against Wolves as Arsenal dropped further points in the Premier League title race, but the Gunners still lead by five points and Saka reiterated his desire to win a silver medal after signing a new contract.

Saka scored Arsenal’s opening goal against Wolves, ending their 15-game clean sheet run.

Saka said: “It’s a great feeling. I think it’s a great moment for my family and for me. I’m immensely happy to continue my journey with this club. For me, this was an easy commitment and I just want to win everything here.”

“The journey I’ve taken from where I started to where I am now, and the journey the team has taken as well, has been special. I believe the next few years will be the ones to get us over the line, win trophies and make history for this club. We’re back where we belong and fighting for everything.”

Saka has been a key contributor to Arsenal’s title challenges in recent seasons, most notably in 2023-24, when he scored 20 goals and provided 16 assists in all competitions as the Gunners finished two points behind Manchester City in the Premier League.

Saka are targeting their first Premier League title this season, while also on their way to winning the Quadruple, having reached the Carabao Cup final, the FA Cup fifth round and the last 16 of the Champions League.

Arsenal have signed several players to new deals in recent months, with William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, Ethan Nwaneri and Miles Lewis-Skelly also committing their futures to the club.

Saka, like Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly, comes from Arsenal’s Hale End academy and joined the club aged seven.

Saka firmly establishes himself among the Premier League’s best squad

Analysis by Sky Sports’ Nick Wright:

Arsenal spent nearly £300m on new signings in the summer transfer window, but securing Saka’s future could be their most important business this season.

Academy products have become something of a talisman for clubs. He captained the team in Martin Odegaard’s absence and remains an integral part of the team’s attack, with Arsenal consistently turning to him to take advantage of games against stubborn opposition.

Although his form has dipped this season, no player can be said to have had more of an impact under Arteta. In addition to having played more Premier League appearances than any of his team-mates under the Spaniard, he ranks first for goals, assists, shots and chances created, underscoring his all-round threat.

Bukayo Saka has made a huge contribution under Mikel Arteta

There is no doubting his place among the Premier League’s elite. Since the start of the 2021/22 season, he has scored a total of 92 goals and assists in 159 games. Only Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Olly Watkins contributed more goals within this period.

His groin injury was a major factor in his exit for Arsenal last season, but Arsenal will be hoping his goal in the draw with Wolves signals a return to top form. Although the squad has increased in depth due to summer signings, Saka remains a key player and his future at the club is assured.
