Caroline Dubois expects to fight Alicia Baumgardner and Michaela Mayer sooner than many expected.
On Sunday, Dubois will face Terry Harper in a fight to unify the WBO and WBC world lightweight titles, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
She powers up through Harper and is determined to target the biggest battles of the future, wherever they may be.
Dubois wants to move quickly. Baumgardner is a big name opponent who is currently the unified super featherweight champion. She has previously knocked out Harper and has the power to move up to 135 pounds.
Dubois wants to unify the lightweight divisions first, but he expects that fight to take place in late 2026.
“I want to fight Baumgardner at the end of the year. It’s a waste of time. It’s a big fight,” Dubois told Sky Sports.
“Let’s do it. She’s not the undisputed world champion anymore, so I can’t say it has to be an undisputed match. I’d like to have that match by the end of this year.”
Mayer is a two-division world champion and currently holds the WBO welterweight title.
Mayer, another big American name, just signed with Most Valuable Promotions, which also represents Dubois. Londoners will push that fight forward.
“After Baumgardner, I’m going to move up to 147 pounds. I don’t want to mess around. There are no big matches for me at 140 pounds. I’m only chasing big matches,” Dubois declared.
“I’m not obsessed with the belt. I like the belt and I like what the belt brings, but I’m obsessed with the fight. The bigger the fight, the scarier the fight, the scarier the opponent, the more you’ll see me run for it.”
She just wants to be “the best.”
“And you can only do that if you beat the best guys, and the best guys are at 135 pounds and 147 pounds,” she said. “The biggest game is 147 games.
“I don’t know how long she (Mayer) wants to fight. I want to win that fight. I want to win that fight at 147, I want to win every other championship at 147, no matter who the biggest name is at 147.”
