Millwall in dreamland after Boro miss another big chance
Middlesbrough 1-2 Millwall
32 shots. He had 69 touches inside the opponent’s box. xG is 3.12. However, Middlesbrough once again lost at home.
When Boro lost to Millwall’s south London neighbors Charlton at the Riverside last month, they had 34 shots, 86 touches in the box and 2.3 Gs. Their repeated failure to capitalize on the final third made them pay the price once again.
This time it really hurt as Millwall vaulted them into second place and into the automatic promotion spots. “Things will change over time,” Boro coach Kim Helberg said. Despite being completely dominant in the first half, it was almost hard to believe that the team had lost. But time is running out.
And Millwall may have made a run at the perfect time. They advanced to the top two for the first time this season.
It’s a dreamland for their supporters. They had back-to-back away days against Ipswich and Boro knowing it could decide the narrative of their clash.
With four points and two second-half comebacks, promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history is now a serious possibility.
“We’ll see over the next six games how big of a win this is, but right now it feels like a big win,” Lions coach Alex Neal said.
His side will need to carry this momentum into a tricky Easter Monday home game against in-form Norwich. But a win there would give us a favorable game schedule to finish the season and really set us up…

Coventry once again shows determination to get the job done and move forward with further clarity
Coventry 3-2 Derby
One step closer to Coventry City. Another hurdle was overcome.
The scenes of jubilation at the CBS Arena on Friday night showed just how far they have come since that slump that saw them briefly drop below Middlesbrough in the Championship standings at the start of 2026.
Twice he was forced into the derby, but answered both times. The third, and the winner, was the most memorable, coming just after Ben Breton Diaz converted his second of the night, a controversial penalty in the award.
This puts them 11 points behind the top of the championship. Ipswich’s two games in hand complicates things a bit, but the main message is that Coventry are just eight points away from guaranteeing their place in the Premier League.
A 25-year period without first-class football will soon come to an end.

Wrexham fail to make the most of Saints’ absence
West Brom 2-2 Wrexham
In the end it was a good point for Wrexham, as they fought back from two points behind to draw 2-2 with West Brom.
This puts them ahead of Southampton in sixth place and Saints play in the FA Cup this weekend, but they will not be back in Championship contention until they visit Wrexham on Tuesday night.
However, it may have felt like a missed opportunity for the Red Dragons, who were very well prepared for this blockbuster game.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said after the draw: “We were a bit passive in the first half so we had a great reaction after the break.” “We asked the players to improve their character and quality of play in the second half, and they delivered that beautifully.”
Meanwhile, Hull continued to improve in fifth place, picking up a point against Oxford despite leading at the Kassam Stadium. With six games remaining, the playoff spot is firmly in their hands.
Hull coach Sergizh Yakilović said: “We should be satisfied with the one point. Today could have been a great result.” “The main goal is always to get the three points, but today we should be happy with 1-1 because our opponent played well.
“Our position in the league is good. We have everything in our hands. From here we can’t blame anyone else, we can only blame ourselves.”

Club scrapping at the bottom shows signs of determination
Leicester 2-2 Preston | Norwich 1-1 Portsmouth | Oxford 1-1 Hull
There is currently a point difference between 21st and 23rd in the table, with Portsmouth just above the dotted line on 41 points, while Leicester and Oxford are in the relegation zone in 40th place.
All three teams drew on Good Friday, with Pere Mattsson scoring at both ends for the Canaries and Portsmouth winning 1-1 against Norwich.
This was a huge result for Pompey, especially considering Norwich’s form and their 6-1 defeat at QPR before the international break.
“Considering what happened in the last game, I’m really happy with both the points and the performance,” said coach John Musinho. “It was exactly what we needed ahead of another big game on Monday (against Oxford).”
Oxford fought back to draw 1-1 with Hull City and travel to Fratton Park for a lunchtime kick-off on Easter Monday.
“Unfortunately it wasn’t supposed to be that way for us, but the emotion in the crowd was incredible in terms of effort, effort and creativity,” U’s boss Matt Bloomfield said.
“It’s not easy to come back from a goal against a team like Hull, so there’s a lot to be happy about. Now we have to focus on repeating that performance in the remaining six games.”
Caught between these two teams, Leicester led, were led, and eventually held out a 2-2 draw against Preston. Patson Daka scored both goals for the Foxes at King Power Stadium.
“It’s up to us,” Leicester manager Gary Rowett said. “It makes sure we stay united, but at the end of the day we have to win football games. If we don’t, we don’t deserve to be better than the other team.”
“We’ve been incredibly competitive since I’ve been here. We’re on the good side in terms of performance. We need to get more points than we have. So we need to make sure we get those points.”
