Leeds Rhinos’ Micah Thibo put on a show and scored four tries as they defeated Hull KR 56-8 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

35,500 Rugby League takeover tickets were sold at Allegiant Stadium, with Leeds Rhinos and Hull KR fans accounting for the majority, and by far their voices were louder, showcasing the intense passion that Super League has to offer.

Leeds Rhinos were in the lead throughout the first half and were rewarded with converted tries from Brodie Croft, Keenan Palacia and Ryan Hall, a double from Micah Thibo and a performance from Jake Connor, who also converted four of five shots to lead 28-0 overall.

Micah Cibo will be in Las Vegas for the fourth time.

Leeds continued to play the same way in the second half, with Sibo’s third and fourth tries, Croft’s second try, Cooper Jenkins’ couple of barrels over and Connor adjusting to perfection as they reached 56 points.

Hull KR managed to pull off a comfortable win thanks to the efforts of Joe Burgess, but it was a performance that seemed to bring them back to earth after defeating Brisbane Broncos in the World Cup Challenge, which they have yet to win in the Super League after two matches.

Leeds put poor KR to the sword with a phenomenal performance

After Erasure frontman Andy Bell got things going with a performance of ‘A Little Respect’ in front of Hull KR fans before kick-off, it was time for the Robins and Leeds Rhinos to get into the action.

The first 10 minutes were a battle of attrition, but it was time for the Rhinos to come out on top thanks to one player in particular.

Brodie Croft extends Leeds Rhino’s lead over Hull KR in Las Vegas

Sibo scored two goals on his debut for Leeds and proved it in Las Vegas. First he used his strength to stretch in the 11th minute and wreaked havoc on the Rhinos faithful in the 16th minute, with Connor converting both to take a 12-0 advantage.

Just seven minutes later, Croft used some dancing footwork to get under the sticks and Connor pulled the strings with a brilliant 40/20 to give his side territory and an 18-0 advantage.

Frankly, the KR was unstable all over the place, had poor handling, and errors left it firmly under the pump.

In the 29th minute, Palasia barged past Tyron May for a goal and Connor converted to give the Rhinos a 24-0 lead.

It didn’t end there either, as Cibo made a huge break downfield after recovering a short dropout and was stopped short of the line. From there, the Rhinos skipped the ball to the opposite edge with a looping pass that Hall walked in for a 28-0 lead.

Hull KR thought they had hit back through Jez Ritten, but interference in the build-up resulted in a try being canceled and they had to settle for a 28-0 deficit at half-time.

Leeds continued in the second half as they had in the first half, but suffered heavy losses due to Hull KR’s poor defensive effort.

First, Croft did his second dance in the 51st minute and Harry Newman had a huge celebration in front of the Hull KR fans.

Then the usually reliable Tom Davies knocked the kick in and Leeds picked it up and fed the ball to Sibo to complete his hat-trick. Conner made both conversions, giving his team a 40-0 lead with just over 20 points left.

Jenkins then decided he wanted to get in on the try-scoring action and acquired two buses, similar to those in London, and Chris Hankinson converted them to finish the job of destroying the newly crowned World Club Champions.

Cibo: We made a statement in Las Vegas.

Player of the Match Micah Shibo…

“We focused all week on coming here and making a statement and we did it tonight.

“Guys, everyone did their job tonight, so yeah, it was good.

“We always said it was our job as wingers to take these chances and tonight we did that.

“At the same time, Brad (Arthur) was hard on me. He was like a father figure to me, so it’s good to have someone around to support you through the good times and the down times.”

“We’re just going to take it week by week and hopefully continue to get wins and celebrate.”
