Luke Littler says he is drawing inspiration from history as he aims to hold all major PDC titles at the same time after successfully defending the British Open.

The world No. 1 player defeated James Wade in the final for the second year in a row to become the first consecutive British Open champion since Michael van Gerwen in 2016.

Littler hasn’t lost a Premier League match since losing to Wade at the European Championships in Dortmund last October.

The teenager has won the last two World Championships and is also the reigning World Match Play, World Grand Prix, Grand Slam, Players Championship Final and World Masters champion.

The last European Championship won by Jan van Veen is the only major PDC ranking title he currently does not own, but he lost to Luke Humphries in the final of the Non-ranked Premier League in 2025.

Asked if his goal was to win all of sports’ most prestigious trophies, Littler said: “Obviously that’s the main goal.

“Even when I got sent off (against Josh Locke in the British Open semi-finals), I was just scrolling straight through Instagram and TikTok to see how many semi-finals in a row there were. I know I did well in the semi-finals and I know I did well in the finals as well.

“I’m on social media all the time. I think the last player I saw who played here consecutively was Michael (van Gerwen) 10 years ago. It was Gary Anderson at the World Championships. I took each match seriously and got the job done.”

Littler won the 2026 Premier League Round 5 in Cardiff with ‘The Big Fish’ against Gerwyn Price and Johnny Clayton.

Littler has had a slow start in the Premier League this season, missing out on a place in the finals after the first four weeks.

But he bounced back with his first win in Cardiff last week, completing a 170 against home favorites Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton for the trophy.

Littler added: “It was a big win because obviously the Premier League (at Cardiff) wasn’t the start I wanted. Hopefully we can kick off and get even better.”

“Even at the beginning of the Premier League, people were doubting that I wouldn’t win games. Then I beat[Price and Creighton]in their backyard and hit 170 against both of them.”

Littler hopes to meet tennis star Alcaraz

Mr Littler, who described Wade as a “gentleman” with “still a lot left in the tank” after defeating ‘The Machine’ in Minehead on Sunday night, has been nominated for the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year award.

Carlos Alcaraz, the world No. 1 in the men’s tennis rankings, is one of the candidates for World Sportsman of the Year, and Littler hopes to speak to the Spaniard at the awards ceremony.

He added: “I hope to meet Alcaraz. I’m a big tennis fan and he gave me money for his (recent) match against Novak Djokovic!”

“It feels great. I think we’ve broken through twice now. We did it in 2024! Obviously huge.”
