York will face reigning champions Hull KR in their first Super League game on the opening night of the new season. It will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
The game will be followed by the blockbuster match between Warrington and St Helens on Friday night, which will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
This summer, the competition voted to increase the number of clubs for the first time in more than a decade, bringing the number of top teams to 14.
Bradford Bulls were promoted by IMG ratings at the expense of Salford Red Devils and a committee that selected Toulouse Olympique and York Knights as their 13th and 14th clubs.
York had a fantastic season under manager Mark Applegarth, winning 20 in a row at one stage in 2025, winning the 1895 Cup and becoming leaders of the League’s second division.
They become the first Super League club in the modern era since last participating in the elite competition in 1986, and open the season against champions Hull KR on Thursday 12th February at 8pm.
The Yorkshire club made history in October when they defeated Wigan Warriors in the Grand Final with a resounding 24-6 win at Old Trafford.
This completes a historic treble for the Robins, adding to their Challenge Cup and League Leaders’ Shield wins from 2025.
