England made one change to their squad for their second T20 World Cup group stage match against West Indies, with Jamie Overton replacing Luke Wood.
Harry Brook’s side overcame a scare in their opening Group C game to beat Nepal by just four points.
Nepal needed 10 runs from the final over to pull off the upset but ended up chasing 185 for 180-6 in the Group C encounter at the Wankhede Stadium, with only five runs coming from Sam Curran.
However, tensions were high for England as Jofra Archer smashed 22 runs over the top, Lokesh Bam (20 off 39) scored six successive runs and Luke Wood scored 14 runs for a thrilling finale.
Now, they have opted to make one change for Wednesday’s match against West Indies in Mumbai. This match can be streamed live for free on the Sky Sports app.
Surrey all-rounder Overton replaced Lancashire seamer Wood, while spinner Adil Rashid maintained his place despite struggling in the opening game with 0-42 from three overs and an economy rating of 14.
England are currently third in Group C with their first win, West Indies are top of the table with one win, and Scotland are second after losing to West Indies but beating Italy.
Karan: I learned a lot from the close shave.
For many, England’s narrow victory over Nepal was too close for comfort, but Curran, who was tasked with bowling that crucial final, believes he can apply important lessons to the next match against the West Indies.
“We played three T20s in Sri Lanka as well and I think our build-up was very important,” Curran told Sky Sports.
“I think we’re really confident as a team in terms of our roles and things like that.
“With Brooky (Harry Brook) coming in, we are getting used to his style of captaincy, which is great.
“In the context of the first leg of the tournament, we know how the World Cup is played, which is very different from a bilateral series.
“To get those two points. It’s weird because I was standing on the field thinking, ‘Wow, if we lose this, what’s going to happen to our qualifying equation?’
“Now I can smile because I got two points and I learned a lot from that game.”
