Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley and Michael Thorbjornsen led Boston Common Golf to another clear victory in the TGL, defeating The Bay Golf Club 9-1 at the SoFi Center.
After finishing last in Season 1, Boston quickly established itself as a team to beat in Season 2.
The Ball Frogs sit in first place at 2-0-0 and hold the tiebreaker with fellow undefeated Atlanta Drive with a 15-hole win, while The Bay (0-2-0) faces an uphill climb heading into the postseason after two consecutive losses.
McIlroy hit a record-breaking 358-yard drive at Stroud, and Thorbjornsen continued his impressive start after setting a TGL record with a four-putt from outside 10 feet in his debut.
The 24-year-old was successful again on Monday, hitting a 14-foot shot for birdie on the seventh to give Boston a 4-1 lead. He then calmly sank a pressured 6-foot shot with a hammer to prevent a two-point lead.
Boston set the tone early by winning the first hole, never relinquishing control, and finished the match in a near-perfect fashion.
McIlroy continued his momentum by defeating his good friend Shane Lowry in singles, taking points on Nos. 10 and 13 in Boston, where he led 8-0 through the final 11 holes.
