The Miami Dolphins are releasing veteran wide receiver Tyreek Hill for the first time in four seasons, NFL Network reported on Monday.

Hill played in just four games for the Dolphins during the 2025 season before suffering a major knee injury that required surgery at the end of the year.

The 31-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career after dislocating his left knee and tearing his ACL.

News of Hill’s release came on the same day that Miami was also reported to be moving veteran pass rusher Bradley Chubb.

Hill entered the NFL as a fifth-round draft pick of the Chiefs in 2016 and later formed one of the league’s most dynamic partnerships with quarterback Patrick Mahomes as Kansas City rose to prominence.

He recorded four 1,000-yard receptions for the Chiefs and led the team to a victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV at the end of the 2019 season.

The Chiefs then traded Hill to the Dolphins in March 2022, after which Miami signed him to a four-year, $120 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid wide receiver in football at the time.

He had a career-high 1,710 yards on 119 catches in his first season and a league-high 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns on 119 catches in 2023.

Hill threw for just 959 yards as the Dolphins missed the playoffs in 2024, but his final season in Miami was interrupted by injury.
