Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has accused US President Donald Trump of endangering her life and said his online criticism has sparked a wave of threats against her.

Greene, who was once a longtime Trump supporter but has recently taken a stand against the president, said Saturday that she received a call from a private security company warning her about her safety.

“The offensive rhetoric attacking me has historically led to death threats and multiple convictions for men who have been radicalized by the same kind of rhetoric that is now being directed at me,” Georgia Rep. Greene posted on X.

“This time it’s from the President of the United States.”

The White House has not yet responded to her post.

President Trump broke off with Greene, 51, in a social media post Friday night, in which he called her “bizarre” and an “abusing lunatic” and complained that she wouldn’t answer his calls.

He continued his criticism in two more social media posts Saturday, calling her a “frivolous congresswoman,” a “traitor” and a “disgrace” to the Republican Party.

President Trump inspires ‘radical internet trolls’

In her first response posted Friday, Greene accused Trump of lying about her and trying to blackmail other Republicans ahead of next week’s House vote on releasing files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted child molester and financier who befriended Trump in the 1990s and 2000s before their falling out.

Greene wrote on Saturday that she had “some understanding” of the fear and pressure felt by Epstein’s victims, who committed suicide in their prison cells in 2019.

“As a Republican who overwhelmingly voted for President Trump’s legislation and agenda, his aggressiveness towards me also fuels the viciousness of his radical internet trolls (many of whom are paid), which is completely shocking to everyone,” she wrote.

Greene was one of just four House Republicans to join Democrats on Wednesday in signing a petition to force a vote to release all Justice Department files related to Epstein as the scandal ensnares President Trump again.

The US president has claimed that the controversy surrounding Epstein is a “hoax” pushed by the Democratic Party.

In a post on Truth Social, he suggested that conservative voters in Greene’s district may consider a primary challenger and would support a suitable candidate to run against Greene in next year’s Congressional elections.

Online backlash from Trump supporters is not uncommon. Right-wing influencers and conservative media personalities have become a powerful force online, amplifying stories and false claims to discredit President Trump’s rivals.
