Waymo, a robotaxi unit owned by alphabetThe company has logged more than 450,000 paid rides per week, according to a letter from investor Tiger Global seen by CNBC.
This is nearly double the milestone Waymo reached in April, when it reported 250,000 paid robotaxis rides per week in the US.
“Waymo is the clear leader in autonomous driving, recently completing more than 450,000 trips per week with a product that is 10 times safer than human drivers,” Tiger Global wrote in a letter to investors announcing the launch of the new fund.
The estimated number of rides for the Tiger is 450,000, based on publicly available data. Waymo is one of the largest positions in Tiger’s 2024 fund.
Waymo declined to comment.

This year, Waymo also announced a number of expansions, including a debut on highways in three cities and self-driving in cities including Miami, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Orlando.
This latest milestone is another sign that Waymo continues to move ahead of its self-driving competitors. teslais running a limited pilot in Austin and operates a ride-hailing service in the Bay Area.
Tesla cars have a human driver or safety supervisor on board, and are not driverless like Waymo’s vehicles.
According to Tesla’s latest financial report, executives said the company’s vehicles have logged 250,000 miles in Austin and more than 1 million miles in the Bay Area. In July, Waymo announced it had completed 100 million fully autonomous miles.
