President Donald Trump said Monday that White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has been diagnosed with “early stage breast cancer” but is undergoing treatment and remains dedicated to her job.

Wiles, 68, “decided to take on this challenge immediately rather than wait,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social disclosing the diagnosis.

Trump said in a post that her prognosis was “excellent” and that she would spend “virtually full time in the White House.”

“Her strength and determination to continue doing what she loves and doing well while undergoing treatment says everything you need to know about her,” he said.

The White House did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for additional information about Wiles.

She appeared next to President Trump at the White House late Monday during a meeting of the board of directors of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The board, made up of President Trump appointees including Wiles, convened to vote on plans to close the center for renovations starting July 6, The New York Times reported.

Trump said at the event that Wiles was facing a “minor difficulty” and reiterated that he would address it “immediately.”

Mr. Wiles oversaw Mr. Trump’s winning 2024 presidential campaign and wielded great influence in his second administration.

Mr. Wiles often appears alongside Mr. Trump at public events, but he rarely speaks on camera or gives recorded interviews. However, she participated in a series of interviews with Vanity Fair magazine in 2025, revealing surprisingly frank assessments of Trump and his inner circle.

She told the outlet that, among other things, Trump has an “alcoholic personality” and that as president he has taken legal “vengeance” against his enemies.

After the interview was published in December, Trump endorsed Wiles, saying numerous government officials defended her while attacking Vanity Fair. Wiles himself called the article a “hit piece”.
