Cruise lines — Carnival Cruises and Royal Caribbean Cruises soared more than 5% following the latest developments in the U.S.-Iran war. Cruise lines have also fallen due to concerns about the economic impact of the war, with Carnival dropping more than 23% and Royal Caribbean more than 15% as of Friday’s close. Oil stocks — Energy stocks fell along with oil prices as recent developments gave investors hope that the Strait of Hormuz could reopen soon. Synopsys — Shares rose nearly 4.5% after the Wall Street Journal reported that activist Elliott Investment Management has a multibillion-dollar stake in the company, citing people familiar with the matter. The report added that Elliott believes there is an opportunity for the company’s financial performance to better reflect its value. BANKS — Many banks rose on Monday as concerns about consumer spending eased following new developments in the U.S.-Iran war. Big banks Capital One and Citigroup rose 2%. Regional banks PNC Financial Services Group and Citizen Financial Group also rose more than 2%. Travel stocks — Many travel stocks rose on Monday as concerns about consumer spending waned. Online travel booking sites Expedia Group and Booking Holdings rose about 2%. Hotel chain operators Hyatt Hotels and Marriott International rose more than 2%, while Hilton Worldwide Holdings rose more than 3%. Short-term rental platform Airbnb rose nearly 2%. Memory stocks — Shares of the group that led the market rally in 2026 rose on Monday’s broader market rally. Western Digital rose nearly 2% and Seagate Technology Holdings rose 2.3%. SanDisk, the top S&P 500 stock in 2026, rose less than 1%.
