Rory McIlroy has unveiled the menu for his traditional Champions Dinner ahead of his Masters title defense at Augusta National in April.

This Northern Irishman will cater to fans of 1990 Château Lafite Rothschild and 1989 Château d’Yquem, lovers of too-sticky toffee pudding, and fans of grilled elk scriners.

Traditionally, the reigning Masters champion selects a meal to be served to fellow winners in the Augusta clubhouse on Tuesday night, prior to the start of the tournament on Thursday morning.

McIlroy defeated Justin Rose in a dramatic playoff hole last year to earn the elusive green jacket and end his agonizing wait for a Masters title.

The 36-year-old’s menu includes a first course of yellowfin tuna carpaccio, followed by other options of wagyu filet mignon or seared salmon, served with traditional Irish chump, and finishes with sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

He may also become the first player to include Brussels sprouts in his selection. Pairing this with dates wrapped in bacon is a bold move.

McIlroy revealed that his mother Rosie once served him bacon-wrapped dates and that he and his wife Erica enjoyed yellowfin tuna carpaccio at their favorite restaurant in New York.

“Yeah, I mean, I think it’s pretty presumptuous to come up with a menu in your head before you actually win a tournament,” McIlroy said.

“But I always thought: If I won the Masters one day, what kind of tournament would I want to be in? What would I want to serve?”
You know, I didn’t want to decide on a theme or anything. I hope this isn’t your first time hosting a dinner.

lolly jokes presser

Following Rory McIlroy’s long-awaited Masters win, he joked that next year’s tournament is no longer a topic of discussion.

“This time I wanted to do something that I enjoyed, but I also wanted to do something that everyone else would enjoy.”
Champions will enjoy it as well.

“No, it wasn’t something that was put together off the top of my head. I tried to approach it pretty thoughtfully. I tried to incorporate some elements.
Here’s what I like and a few personal touches along the way. But at the same time, you know, trying
You need to put together a menu that is big enough for everyone. ”

Last year, Scotty Scheffler offered “Scotty-style” sliders on a Texas-inspired menu, along with “Papa Chef’s Meatball and Ravioli Bites.”

Jon Rahm previously served Spanish-themed menus such as Mama Rahm’s Classic Lentil Stew and Bass Crib Eye, Danny Willett famously served a Sunday roast, and Tiger Woods has served steak and chicken fajitas in the past.
