Golf legend Tiger Woods told police he spoke on the phone with President Donald Trump shortly after his drunken rollover crash in Florida, body camera footage obtained by TMZ and shown on Thursday’s show.

In the police video, Woods can be heard saying, “Thank you so much. Okay. Okay. Goodbye,” as he walked up to the officer, who beckoned him to return to the scene of the accident.

“I was just talking to the president,” Woods told the officer.

The golfer can then be heard telling a man, whom TMZ identified as his manager, that he is “very sorry for what I did last night.”

The night before, President Trump claimed in an interview on Fox News’ “The Five” that Woods would not play in the next Masters Tournament. A few days ago, Woods publicly held open the possibility of playing in the Masters, and had not said before the accident that he had decided not to play.

Woods is dating Vanessa Trump, President Trump’s former daughter-in-law, who was married to Donald Trump Jr.

Woods, 50, was charged with drunken driving by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office after a crash Friday in Jupiter, Fla., in which a Land Rover clipped a truck’s trailer.

According to the arrest affidavit, the golfer had two opioid pills in his pants, had “bloodshot and cloudy eyes,” “hyper dilated pupils,” and was “sweating profusely.”

Immediately after the crash, Trump called Woods a “very close friend.”

“I feel very bad. He’s going through some kind of trouble. There was an accident. That’s all I know,” Trump told reporters. “He’s a great guy, a great guy, but he has some challenges.”

“I will be away for a period of time to receive treatment and focus on my health,” Woods said Tuesday night. “This is necessary for me to prioritize my health and work toward a lasting recovery.”

He has pleaded not guilty in the case.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the video.
