Fashion app Daydream uses Apple Intelligence to help you shop for outfits in your camera roll

Daydream, the AI-powered fashion discovery app, on Monday launched two new features that allow iPhone users to turn saved outfit photos into shoppable results and search for clothing and accessories through Siri without opening the app.

These new features were built using Apple’s iOS 27 developer tools, which were officially released today. Both features require an iPhone running iOS 27 with Siri AI enabled and the Daydream app installed. This app is free to download on your iOS device.

The first feature uses Apple’s Image Context feature, which allows users to shop from images already stored in the Photos app. Daydream analyzes the outfits in the image, identifies individual items, and automatically shows you shopping options and similar styles from Daydream’s catalog of nearly 3 million products.

So a screenshot of an outfit you found on Instagram or Pinterest could be the starting point for your shopping search. Daydream can break down images into related items, such as sweaters, pants, shoes, and accessories, and match them to products available in your collection. If the exact item in the photo is still available, Daydream can match the image to a retailer that sells the item. If that is no longer available, the app will display similar options instead.

We can also accommodate requests for variations in the content displayed in the image. For example, “I like this sweater, but I want it in red” is something Daydream understands, Daydream co-founder and CEO Julie Bornstein told TechCrunch.

The second feature is natural language search powered by Siri. Users can make voice or text requests through Siri without having to open the Daydream app.

A user can say, “Hey, Siri, search Daydream for a cool blazer for Monday’s board meeting,” and Daydream will show results tailored to the user.

Bornstein added that the experience can be more customized if users set up Daydream’s “Style Passport,” which asks for details such as size, preferred brands, personal style, and budget.

The company joins a growing number of AI shopping tools designed to reimagine product discovery, including big players like Google and Amazon, as well as smaller companies like Onton and Alta. But Bornstein believes Daydream’s newest features offer something special that many other tools can’t match.

“Most visual search tools don’t have expertise in the fashion category, so they return results that don’t come from trustworthy brands, don’t seem accurate, or link to images that aren’t shoppable,” she said.

The launch fits into Daydream’s broader bet on AI-powered fashion shopping. The company sees these new features as more than just standalone shopping tools. The company’s long-term goal is to build a shopping agent.

“This is a step toward a bigger vision: a shopping agent that fully understands someone’s style and works in all aspects of their life, not just one aspect,” Bornstein said. “We look forward to digging deeper into the intelligence on devices and into the everyday moments where people are already finding what they want.”

Daydream’s app was launched last year and claims more than 1.5 million shoppers have browsed products from more than 325 retailers and 10,000 brands. Its retail lineup includes brands such as Anthropologie, Dolce & Gabbana, Uniqlo, J.Crew, Reformation, Gucci, and Nordstrom.
