Muse, Meta’s new AI assistant app, is now available on Mac.

On Mac, Muse lets you work with files, messages, calendars, notes, and email, all within the native application.

The new app follows the release of Muse on mobile and web earlier this month, which quickly shot to the top of the US App Store charts.

Muse for Mac is here!! Agent will be able to do everything on your computer: files, messages, calendars, notes, etc.

You control what you can access and are always asked before performing sensitive operations.

As with other platforms, you can control what Muse can access on your Mac on an opt-in basis. Additionally, Mehta said the app always asks for approval before performing sensitive actions.

The desktop app comes at a time of increased competition among consumer-facing AI agents, which many in the industry believe are the future of computing. The move is disrupting the app industry, the software-as-a-service business, and perhaps even eventually hardware like the iPhone.

In addition to Muse, all major companies offer consumer agent AI. Other AI agents are also gaining attention by allowing people to use them through text messages. Poke, one of the first breakout hits in the space, moved to Cognition in July. Meanwhile, Instinct, the latest AI assistant that has been making a lot of noise in the tech world lately, is said to be raising more funding at a valuation of $10 billion.

The question now is who can quickly capture the most consumer market share in this space. This forced Muse and Instinct to release new features at a rapid pace. For example, both released voice calls this week.

As Mark Zuckerberg said at X when announcing the Mac app, “Teams are shipping fast.”
