President Donald Trump plans a private dinner human CEO Dario Amodei said at the White House on Sunday, according to an Axios report.
The dinner comes amid an ongoing battle between artificial intelligence giants and the administration amid growing concerns about the safety of AI and potential mitigation measures.
The White House and Antropic did not immediately respond to CNBC’s requests for comment.
President Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) are reportedly scheduled to meet with the CEOs of major AI companies on Tuesday, amid growing calls for stronger guardrails for the technology and warnings from some experts and insiders.
Amodei and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have also been summoned to appear before Australia’s Senate inquiry into AI after a rogue OpenAI bot hacked the country’s health system database, the head of the inquiry announced on Sunday.
The cooperation between Anthropic and the Trump administration has been problematic.
On Friday, a panel of the federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., upheld the Pentagon’s decision to blacklist Anthropic. In a 2-1 decision, the committee rejected Antropic’s argument that the Pentagon’s ban on Claude models was arbitrary, unauthorized, and unconstitutional.
