Pinterest on Tuesday announced a new feature that uses AI to turn the inspiration you save from beauty Pins, like hair and nail ideas, into actionable plans you can take to the salon.
Powered by Pinterest Intelligence, the company’s visual intelligence and generative AI technology, Beauty Guide translates Pins into terms and phrases used by stylists and nail artists that everyday users may not know, such as “balayage,” “root melt,” and “almond nails.”
This feature is a small but practical way to bring AI into users’ daily lives, building into what people are already doing: bringing their inspired photos to the salon. While this helps a lot, it can also be helpful to have the appropriate terminology at hand when discussing which parts of the appearance to edit or change.
In addition, the guide provides information to help users plan their visit, including how long and how much each part of the process will cost. (Balayage can cost several hundred dollars, so this is important information to know beforehand!)

Tapping the Get Guide button within the app will take you to an action guide that provides details on what exactly to ask for to achieve the same look, how long it will take, price range, and maintenance requirements like trim, tone, and touch-up frequency.
At launch, this feature will work across pins related to hairstyles, colors, nail shapes, and finishes.
