On November 1, 2026, the city hall in Kramatorsk, Ukraine, which was partially destroyed by a Russian airstrike, bursts into flames.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Sunday that Russian airstrikes left hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians without power, while Russian authorities reported heavy damage to industrial sites following a Ukrainian drone attack on the Nizhny Novgorod region.

A six-day local cease-fire took effect around the Russian-held Ukrainian town of Oreshki on the final day, but fighting continued elsewhere along the front, with both sides continuing to launch long-range airstrikes.

President Zelenskiy said Russia damaged the electricity infrastructure in four regions of Ukraine overnight, leaving hundreds of thousands of households without power.

“The intensity of the attack is very high and Russia is trying to make the most of its lack of anti-ballistic missiles,” he said on Telegram.

Meanwhile, he said Ukraine attacked the Kamensky factory in Russia’s Rostov region, which is involved in Russian missile production.

The Russian government has not commented on the reported attack in Rostov. But in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, a large-scale overnight drone attack by Ukraine caused “significant damage” to industrial facilities, Governor Gleb Nikitin said.

He did not specify which sites were attacked. This region is home to the NORSI refinery, one of Russia’s largest.

In all, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Russian military shot down 235 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory overnight. The Ukrainian Air Force said it had shot down 371 of the 433 long-range drones launched by Russia since Saturday evening.

Dozens of Russian-made drones were still flying as of Sunday morning, the Air Force said in a morning update. Six drone alerts had been issued in Kiev since midnight.

The Nizhny Novgorod oblast government also did not identify the affected facilities, but said it was taking measures to ensure fuel supplies to gas stations, and called on motorists to “buy fuel only when necessary and avoid panic buying,” Interfax news agency reported.

The warning suggests the damaged facility was related to oil refining or fuel supply infrastructure in the region. Kiev did not immediately claim responsibility for the Nizhny Novgorod attack.

Russia announced on Friday that Ukraine had resumed attacks on its oil refineries, accusing Kiev of ignoring calls from US President Donald Trump to stop the attacks, which Trump blamed on a rise in diesel prices ahead of Tuesday’s US midterm elections.

Ukraine supports a full ceasefire on energy targets, including its devastated power grid, but Moscow says it has no intention of agreeing to it.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who oversees the energy sector, did not mention the Nizhny Novgorod strike in an interview with state TV station Vesti on Sunday, but said Ukrainian strikes against Russian refineries were increasing imbalances in the global fuel market and affecting prices.
