Jonathan Taylor scored the winning touchdown in overtime as the Indianapolis Colts defeated the Atlanta Falcons 31-25 in a thrilling game at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium.
It was only fitting that Taylor notch the decisive 8-yard score as he carried the ball 32 times for 244 yards and three touchdowns in a monster performance that pushed Indianapolis to 8-2.
Michael Badgley’s 44-yard field goal tied the game at 25-25 for the Colts, and the game went into overtime after Tyler Allgaier’s 1-yard rushing touchdown and Drake Rondon’s 2-point conversion put Atlanta in the lead with 1.44 remaining.
Moments earlier, Taylor made the longest 83-yard house call of his career with six minutes left to give the Colts, who had been troubled by Atlanta’s No. 1 pass defense for much of the game, a 22-17 advantage.
Atlanta led 14-13 at the half thanks to touchdowns by Allgaier and Rondon, who had six catches for 104 yards and one touchdown.
Daniel Jones completed 19-of-26 for 255 yards, a touchdown pass to Alec Pierce and an interception late in the first half, but lost one and recovered one of his three fumbles. He was also sacked seven times in another melee after last weekend’s brutal loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Michael Penix Jr. was 12-of-28 for 177 yards and a touchdown, but was sacked three times and given a costly intentional grounder penalty on the final play of regulation.

The Colts didn’t score for more than 40 minutes until Badgley cracked the post with a 34-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to bring Shane Steichen’s team within 17-16.
Lou Anarumo’s defense was then rewarded by the sensational Taylor, who turned the game around with an 83-yard burst to the sideline, passing over 200 yards and breaking the franchise record for rushing touchdowns in the process.
Allgayer kept the game alive by setting up a 1-yard score of his own in the final two minutes, leaving time for more drama for the Colts.
Sacked by Kayden Ellis past his own 40, Jones scrambled for 19 yards on third-and-21 before Tyler Warren made a nice leaping catch to move the chains and pave the way for Badgley’s tying kick.
The Colts took the lead in Berlin, with Taylor driving in a 1-yard touchdown to punish Atlanta’s early turnover, only for Badgley to miss the extra point. A strong Cam Bynum strip-sacked Penix Jr. on 3rd-and-8, Jermaine Pratt recovered, and Ashton Dulin’s 22-yard jet sweep brought Indianapolis to the goal line.
The Colts were then forced to pay a 20-yard pass interference penalty as Allgaier found the end zone for a 1-yard score on the ensuing drive. Penix relied on his star man in possession as London turned the field over with receptions of 30 and 13 yards.
The frenetic early exchanges resumed when Alec Pierce rose high above double coverage in the end zone to snatch a 37-yard touchdown pass from Jones, the result of Steichen’s double-post route concept that Warren coaxed a crucial bite from Jesse Bates.
They stopped a two-play reaction that started with Taylor’s 28-yard burst and entered Atlanta’s territory.
Badgley missed a 53-yard field goal and missed a chance to extend the Colts’ lead, but Atlanta took a 14-13 lead late in the second half with Rondon’s 16-yard touchdown catch.
Raheem Morris may have regretted not taking a timeout late in the second quarter after Bates intercepted Jones and the ensuing provocative penalty cost the Falcons a chance deep in their own half with just eight seconds left.
Zane Gonzalez’s 43-yard field goal gave the Falcons a 17-13 lead early in the third quarter, but then Atlanta’s pass defense forced Jones with consecutive forced fumbles, the second of which was recovered by standout Jaron Walker.
Sauce Gardner, who made his debut with the Colts after being traded from the New York Jets, made a spectacular jump on London’s return route on the sideline before calling out for an interception.
The loss dropped the Falcons to 3-6 during a shaky season for Morris’ team, but it was a welcome response for Indianapolis to its loss to Pittsburgh, which continues its playoff run.
