Google announced Monday that it will begin rolling out Gemini to Google TV Streamer, which replaces Google Assistant. The tech giant says this change will allow users to more naturally use their voice to access content and more.

For example, users will be able to ask questions like, “I like dramas, but my wife likes comedies. What movies can we watch together?” When looking for recommended movies.

Or users can quickly learn about a show they want to watch again by asking questions like, “What happened at the end of last season of Outlander?” As another example, Google says users can also ask questions like, “What’s the new hospital drama everyone is talking about?”

Google says Gemini for TV goes beyond entertainment, and users will also be able to ask the AI assistant other types of questions, similar to Gemini on their phones.

For example, users can bring learning to TV by asking Gemini to “explain to a third grader why volcanoes erupt.” Google says Gemini can also use YouTube videos to guide users through DIY projects and recipes.

To access Gemini on Google TV Streamer, you need to press the microphone button on your remote.

Google says the update will roll out to users 18 and older “in the coming weeks.”

The move comes after Google announced in September that it would introduce Gemini to Google TV to select TCL devices. The company announced at the time that Gemini would be installed in 2025 Hisense U7, U8, and UX models and 2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models later this year.

In addition to Google TV Streamer, Gemini is also available on Walmart Onn 4K Pro streaming devices.

Monday’s announcement comes as no surprise, as the change is part of Google’s plan to replace Google Assistant with Gemini across all devices and platforms. Additionally, the company announced at CES in January that Gemini would be coming to Google TV this year.
