Enterprise AI is rapidly moving from chatbots that answer questions to systems that do real work across organizations. But who owns the AI layer that powers it all?

Glean, which started as an enterprise search product, has evolved into a so-called “AI work assistant” that sits beneath other AI experiences and aims to connect to internal systems, manage permissions, and provide intelligence to employees wherever they work. Investors are also on board with this vision, with the startup raising $150 million last June at a $7.2 billion valuation amid increasing competition from tech giants bundling AI.

In this episode of TechCrunch’s Equity podcast, Rebecca Bellan speaks with Arvind Jain, founder and CEO of Glean, at Web Summit Qatar to dig into how companies are thinking about AI architecture, what’s driving integration, and what’s the truth and the hype in the AI agent space.

Listen to the full episode to hear:

A battle between bundled AI offered by big tech companies like Microsoft and Google and platform layers like Glean and its competitors. How the introduction of AI is reshaping leadership and organizational design. Why authority and governance are harder issues than most companies realize.
