Spotify wants to be the home of AI-generated personal audio

In recent years, apps like Google’s NotebookLM, Hero, and more recently Adobe Acrobat have given users the ability to create podcasts based on existing material such as documents, daily schedules, and articles. Currently, Spotify allows you to access these podcasts within the app, but this requires some programming tools.

The company says if you’re already using tools like OpenAI’s Codex, Anthropic’s Claude Code, or OpenClaw, you can use Spotify’s new CLI tools, which are in beta, to create podcasts and import them into Spotify for later use.

“People have already started using Agents to create personal audio to guide them through their day, from summarizing class notes before an exam to explaining what’s on their calendar. And they’re asking for a way to listen to it on Spotify, where they already listen to everything else,” the company said in a blog post.

Podcasts appear in a user’s Spotify library for easy access, but are not available to other Spotify users.

To take advantage of this new feature, users can visit the tool’s GitHub page and follow the instructions there. You will be asked to log into your Spotify account through your browser.

Then you can create a prompt like this: “Create an audio session that delves into the history of the World Cup, including key players, venues, and everything you need to know about the match.”
“This year,” you ask, and ask your agent to generate a podcast and save it to Spotify. Users also get a link to the podcast’s Spotify listing.
