Google’s Chrome browser gets an update that uses AI to improve its autofill capabilities. The company announced Wednesday that Chrome is adding an advanced version of Autofill, allowing users to fill out online forms with suggestions pulled from Gmail.
This means that by looking at your email, Chrome may suggest information you need to know, such as flight confirmation numbers, membership IDs, tracking information, order numbers, addresses, phone numbers, credit card numbers, and more.
The update is an expansion of Google’s Personal Intelligence, which already lets users connect Google Apps to its AI assistant Gemini to retrieve specific details and use them to answer complex questions.
While seemingly small, this update could make Chrome easier to use and give users new reasons to stick with Google’s browser and its AI ecosystem. This is reminiscent of one of Apple’s most praised features: automatically detecting verification codes sent via text and displaying them on the keyboard, allowing users to enter them with a single tap.
As with other personalized intelligence features, users can decide whether to enable Enhanced Autofill from their Chrome settings. Google notes that sensitive data is encrypted.
This feature is rolling out to users’ desktops in the US, as well as the iOS and Android apps for Gemini in Chrome.
