Duchess Kate spoke about her experience with cancer in a very personal video message released on Wednesday to mark World Cancer Day.

Kate, 44, who was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and is now in remission, has this to say to those affected by the disease: “Know that you are not alone.”

She says the cancer journey is not a linear experience, and there are “moments of fear and exhaustion,” but also “moments of strength, kindness, and deep connection.”

In a message posted on social media, she can be heard saying in a video narration that the disease “touches so many lives” and that her “thoughts are with everyone facing a cancer diagnosis, undergoing treatment, and finding a path to recovery.”

Kate continued that World Cancer Day “reminds us of the importance of care, understanding and hope.”

The video, narrated by the princess, is from a visit to the London hospital where she was treated last year. When she returned to the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in Chelsea in early 2025, she met the medical team and spoke to patients.

Kate’s message came a day after King Charles’ message on World Cancer Day, in which he also spoke about his cancer journey and how he was “deeply moved” by the “community of care that surrounds every cancer patient.”

He praised the professionals, nurses, researchers and volunteers who are “working tirelessly to save and improve lives.”

The king, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2024, also revealed in December that his treatment would be reduced due to “early diagnosis, effective intervention and compliance with ‘doctor’s orders’.”

Charles said the milestone in his recovery was a “personal blessing”, before praising the “remarkable advances in cancer treatment in recent years”.
