Thousands of people gathered peacefully across the United States throughout Monday to denounce and protest the U.S. and Israeli military operations in Iran.

According to CNN affiliate WCVB, Boston residents took to the streets amid the cold temperatures. According to CNN affiliate WCVB, one demonstrator told the crowd that he opposed “endless, stupid, immoral and dangerous wars.”

In New York City, crowds of protesters gathered in Manhattan for a brief rally and marched peacefully through the city’s streets holding banners and posters and chanting “Hands off Iran now.”

Elsewhere in the city, smaller groups took a different attitude. Dozens of Iranian-Americans gathered in Times Square to welcome the killing of Iran’s supreme leader and call for regime change.

“No one is happy when their homeland is attacked,” Iranian-American protester Tina Raval told CNN affiliate WABC. “You know something is wrong when people across the country are begging to be bombed.”

On the West Coast, protesters in Los Angeles protested the strike, chanting “no war with Iran” and demanding an end to U.S. military involvement.

Similar protests occurred in Chicago, Portland, Oregon, and Madison, Wisconsin.

The ANSWER Coalition, a group opposed to war and occupation, announced on social media platforms over the weekend that Monday would be a national day of protest.

Please stop the war in Iran. ” Its website lists a number of demonstrations scheduled across the country on Monday.
