Latest updates: Iran war, Trump’s peace talks, ongoing blockade along the Strait of Hormuz

The Iranian embassy continues to hit back at US President Donald Trump on social media, posting a series of derisive AI-generated memes on its official account that often go viral.

The posts, often flashy and sarcastic, tended to target the president directly and became a defining part of Iran’s communications strategy during its war with the United States.

Many of the memes seek to poke fun at President Trump’s online behavior while pushing the Iranian government’s talking points as the two countries wage an online communications war.

‘Jesus’ image: One recent video posted to X by the Iranian embassy in Tajikistan, using a since-deleted image that President Trump shared on Truth Social this week, depicted Jesus healing a sick man, sparking widespread backlash. Trump said he thought the image depicted him as a doctor.

Christians across faith traditions – even many Christians in the MAGA world who have otherwise supported Mr. Trump – roundly condemned Mr. Trump’s language as “blasphemy.”

A video shared by the embassy shows a Christ-like figure falling from the sky and punching Trump, who is clearly Jesus, causing the president to fall off a cliff into a pit of lava, gushing blood. “Your liquidation is complete,” a male voice says in the background.

Some Iranian memes delve further into President Trump’s archives.

“A wise man once said, ‘If we don’t open the strait, we’ll go kobfefe,'” a post from the Iranian embassy in Thailand this week said, referring to a typo in a 2017 tweet by President Trump that became an online joke.

Other memes draw on American popular culture and domestic politics.

‘Pirates of Hormuz’: A vivid AI-generated image recently shared by the Iranian embassy in Zimbabwe resembles a movie poster promoting the popular American film series ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’.

This poster shows a helicopter flying over a burning ship at sea. The main character has President Trump’s face superimposed on it, and the fake movie’s title is “The Pirates of Hormuz.”
