Iranian state media said new footage from the Strait of Hormuz confirms the strategic waterway remains under strict Iranian control.

A video posted on Telegram by Iran’s Fars news agency shows the ship passing through what it claims is the Strait of Hormuz after receiving permission from the Iranian government to enter the Persian Gulf.

Fars said the approach to this “secure corridor” designed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) navy would pass between Larak and Qeshm islands, exiting from the south of Larak near Iran’s coastline.

CNN cannot independently verify claims about the vessel’s navigation.

The United States has imposed a blockade order that applies to all Iranian ports within and outside the Strait.

After Iran’s foreign minister declared the waterway open on Friday, the Revolutionary Guards reversed the decision and reimposed the stranglehold it had held on the vital passageway for global energy trade since the outbreak of the war.

According to Fars News Agency, the Iranian government has now “returned the Strait of Hormuz to its wartime footing”, completely closing it to all shipping traffic without Iranian permission and banning the passage of warships.
