Britain’s Princess Eugenie is pregnant with her third child with husband Jack Brooksbank, Buckingham Palace announced on Monday.
The couple are already parents to two boys and are planning to welcome a new family member this summer. They are August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, born in February 2021, and Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, born in May 2023.
A royal statement shared on social media said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are thrilled to announce that they are expecting their third child this summer.”
“August (5 years old) and Ernest (2 years old) are also very excited to be adding another sibling to their family.”
The baby’s great-uncle, King Charles III, said he was “delighted with this news”.
The princess and her husband wed at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in October 2018, just months after Eugenie’s cousin Harry, Duke of Sussex, married Meghan Markle.
Eugenie, 12th in line to the British throne, is the second daughter of King Charles’ disgraced brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The baby will be his fifth grandchild with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
There has been a lack of good news for the royal family in recent months. Mountbatten-Windsor was forced to renounce his royal title and move from Royal Lodge in Windsor to the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
Additionally, the former prince is under increasing pressure to answer further questions about his involvement with the late convicted criminal Jeffrey Epstein. British police launched an investigation into suspicions of official misconduct and leaking official secrets after emails were unearthed suggesting the former prince shared confidential material with Epstein while he was British trade envoy. Mountbatten-Windsor has previously denied any wrongdoing over her relationship with Epstein.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ferguson is also believed to have ties to Mr. Epstein, as shown in files released by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Eugenie, 36, and her sister Beatrice, 37, have been embroiled in a family scandal due to their parents’ ties to Epstein, but there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing on their part.
