Iranian state media reported early Sunday that Iran targeted multiple U.S. military facilities across the Gulf, following a recent series of attacks by the United States.
According to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) fired a ballistic missile at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
According to the IRIB news agency, the Revolutionary Guards also carried out “a heavy surprise attack on a naval ship’s logistics support facility and a refueling platform used by a US aircraft carrier in Oman’s Duqm port.”
In Kuwait, the Iranian military announced it had launched a loitering drone against U.S. military facilities, including a Patriot air defense system. In Bahrain, home to the US 5th Fleet, Iranian forces also claimed to have targeted US military communication systems and radar facilities.
CNN has been unable to verify claims of attacks on US military facilities. CNN has reached out to U.S. Central Command.
Qatar and Kuwait both reported intercepting airstrikes early Sunday local time. Sirens blared in Bahrain and authorities warned residents to go to the nearest safe place.
In Jordan, the Revolutionary Guards claimed to have destroyed military infrastructure, including a drone storage facility at Prince Hassan Air Base, according to Iranian media.
CNN’s Eyad Kurdi contributed to this report.
