A Paris court on Tuesday awarded Kim Kardashian, the victim of an armed robbery in the French capital in 2016, the compensation she sought: 1 euro ($1.15), according to a lawyer involved in the case.
Ms Kardashian has been seeking to move on since last year, when a court convicted eight people for their roles in what she described as “the most horrifying experience of my life”. She and stylist Simone Allouche expressed their gratitude to the French justice system in a joint statement.
“This experience was deeply traumatic, and its effects will stay with us forever. Today’s decision is not about compensation, it’s about accountability and recognition,” the statement read to The Associated Press. “We are grateful to the court and everyone who has supported us through this process, and we look forward to moving forward and continuing to heal.”
The court awarded the former receptionist at the Hotel de Pourtares 109,516 euros ($126,472) in compensation, according to his lawyer. Kardashian was staying at a hotel when she was targeted by robbers.
The receptionist said she was traumatized by the jewelry robbery during Fashion Week on October 2, 2016. He was seeking 550,000 euros ($634,868) in damages and interest. His lawyer, Mohand Ouija, hailed the decision as a victory.

The court ordered the hotel to pay 50,000 euros ($57,741). Kardashian’s stylist Haroush, who was present at the scene of the robbery, was given the 1 euro she requested.
French lawyers who represented Ms. Kardashian during her trial did not respond to text messages or phone calls from The Associated Press this week.
Two robbers dressed as police broke into Ms. Kardashian’s suite, tied her up with zip ties and tape, and made off with more than $6 million in jewelry, including the diamond ring she wore that night at the Givenchy show.
Because of their age, the robbers became known in France as “Les Pappies Braquers”, or Grandpa Robbers. Six of them were in their 60s and 70s when they went on trial on charges including armed robbery, kidnapping and gang association.
None of those convicted returned to prison as their pretrial detention period had already ended. No one appealed the verdict.
“I am deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice in this case,” Kardashian said in a statement after the conviction.
“This crime was the most horrifying experience of my life and has left a lasting impact on me and my family,” the celebrity said. “While I will never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and responsibility and pray for healing for all. I remain committed to advocating for justice and promoting a fair legal system.”
