President Donald Trump announced Thursday that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to extend the ceasefire for three weeks after meeting with top US officials at the White House.

“The meeting went very well!” President Trump said in a post on Truth Social announcing the extension of the temporary ceasefire.

“The United States will work together to protect Lebanon from Hezbollah,” Trump wrote, referring to Iranian-backed militias.

“The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon is extended for three weeks,” he wrote.

The agreement gives Israel and Lebanon leeway to continue diplomacy by postponing the looming expiration of an initial 10-day ceasefire brokered last week.

According to a post by President Trump on Thursday afternoon, “high representatives” from both countries, Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, and U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michelle Issa met with Trump in the Oval Office.
