US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the US would not invest money in Iran after signing a memorandum of understanding with the Iranian government.
“By the way, we have not invested any money in Iran. The rumors that were spread yesterday are ridiculous,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian, France. “If I want to do something, or if someone wants to do something, we have the right to come in and do it at some point, but we’re not investing money.”
Leaders of the richest Group of Seven (G7) nations, including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Canada, Italy and Japan, are gathering in the Alpine town for the G7 summit, with representatives from the European Union and Ukraine among them invited to attend.
Hours before leaving the United States for France, President Trump announced that the United States and Iran had reached a deal to end the war in the Middle East.
