President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that Pierre Yared will step down as acting chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers.
Mr. Yared, who has held the position since September, “will return to Columbia Graduate School, where he is highly respected by all,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Yared and his team at CEA, the Brainiacs, worked around the clock to make America rich again, and they achieved great success. ” Trump wrote. “I would like to thank Pierre for his outstanding contributions to our country and wish him and his wonderful family a healthy and happy future.”
Yared holds the title of professor of international business in the economics department at Columbia Business School, where he joined in 2007, according to the school’s website.
Efforts by CNBC to reach Mr. Yared at Columbia University via phone and email were not immediately successful.
The Council of Economic Advisers has provided the President with information and advice on domestic and international economic policy since 1946.
It was not immediately clear who would replace Yared. CEA’s official website still lists Yared as acting chairman and notes that Aaron Hedlund, a researcher at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, serves on the board.
