President Donald Trump said Monday. bombardierThe Canadian airplane manufacturer must manufacture its products in the United States in order to continue selling in the American market.
The move comes amid a bitter trade war between the United States and Canada and on the eve of retaliatory tariffs scheduled to take effect on a wide range of American products on Tuesday.
“Bombardiers are no longer selling in the US!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“If they want our market, they have to build here and stop treating America like a ‘piggy bank,'” he wrote.
Bombardier did not respond to a request for comment.

On August 25, Ottawa announced retaliatory tariffs of approximately $20 billion on more than 700 U.S. products.
These are intended to reflect the scale of the latest import taxes imposed by President Trump on products such as Canadian wine, cement and hockey sticks. President Trump recently announced these 50% tariffs after trade negotiations broke down.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” that Canada “abandoned” a nearly complete trade deal with the United States “solely for political reasons.” In response, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada would resume trade negotiations “when the American side is ready.”
