President Donald Trump said Friday that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will not be chosen as artificial intelligence czar.
Trump’s announcement came after Semaphore and Reuters reported that Bessent was being considered for the post.
“Scott Bessent will not be the Super Intelligence (SI) czar,” President Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
“Number one, he doesn’t want to do it. Number two, he’s doing such a great job at the Treasury that I want to keep him there!” Trump said. “Why would we need to make such a change?”
President Trump said on September 19 that he would create an AI Army, “just like I created the Space Force.”
On the same day, the president said on Truth Social, “To that end, we plan to announce the AI ’Czar’ in the near future.” “AI is the next industrial revolution, the Internet, but it will be bigger and more impactful, perhaps reaching 25% of our GDP.”
“We are leading China and the rest of the world, and we intend to keep it that way!” Trump said.
